The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Roll call: Supervisor Phil Heath (present), Clerk Margaret Rock (present), Treasurer Jim Early (present), Trustee Olga Mancik (present), and Trustee Robert Dopkowski (present).
Public Comment:
Resident from Azalia talked about 40 mph speed limit.
Agenda additions or changes:
Add printing of tax bills to new business.
Consent Agenda, Minutes, Disbursements, Fund Balances and Building Report:
Motion by Trustee Dopkowski and seconded by Trustee Mancik to accept the Consent Agenda with addition. Motion carried.
Motion by Clerk Rock and seconded by Trustee Dopkowski to accept the minutes.
Motion carried.
Clerk Rock read the disbursements: General Fund = $11,027.71
Fire Fund = 11,761.61
Bldg. Fund = 159.30
Other = 20.20
Total = $22,968.82
Motion by Clerk Rock and seconded by Treasurer Early to pay the bills of $22,968.82 and to pay Leonard, Graham & Goldsmith (lawyers) bill. Motion carried.
Treasurer Early gave the Fund Balances: Chase (savings) = $387,229.01
MB & T (checking) = 33,347.86
Flagstar = 200,290.76
MB & T (savings) = 15,515.44
Total = $636,383.07
Motion by Treasurer Early and seconded by Supervisor Heath to approve the fund balance report.
Motion carried.
Trustee Mancik gave the Building Report:
5 permits issued
Total money received = $480
Total paid out = $187
Motion by Treasurer Early and seconded by Trustee Dopkowski to accept the Building Report.
Motion carried.
Old Business
Trash Resolution –
Lennard, Graham & Goldsmith (our attorney) recommended that the township postpone the adoption of the proposed Ordinance and the execution of an exclusive waste removal contract.
Supervisor Heath will talk to Stevens Disposal and report back to the board.
Trash Day-
Trustee Mancik gave report of 70 loads of trash brought in on trash day. Donations of $141.00 and cost of dumpster was $1875.
Township Property-
Discussion of what to do with the property. Trustee Dopkowski said CRP is going very slowly. Treasurer Early will get in touch with the last renter to see if he wishes to plant this year. An ad will be put into the newspaper (if last renter doesn’t wish to farm the property) bid will go to the highest bidder.
New Business
Robert Studnicka – PA 116
Motion by Trustee Mancik and seconded by Supervisor Heath to accept the PA 116 for Robert Studnicka (36.5 acres).
Motion carried.
Printing of Tax Bills
Motion by Supervisor Heath and seconded by Treasurer Early to approve $400 for printing of the tax bills.
Motion carried.
Issues from the Board Members
Supervisor Heath –
Ed Jaromin the electrical inspector has passed away and David Tubbs has temporary replaced him.
Motion by Supervisor Heath and seconded by Clerk Rock to hire David Tubbs as the electrical inspector.
Motion carried.
Clerk Rock-
Minutes: Wish to not print out the minutes since we e-mail to all board members. Trustee Mancik wishes for a copy in her folder each month. Issue dropped.
Budget meeting: Clerk Rock will print up a copy for all board members and put in boxes. All set before giving to the auditors. We need to finish the budget before the end of May.
Millage: The fire and road millage expires December 2009 and we will wait until August 2010 to put the millage renewal on the ballot. August 2010 is the Primary election for the governor’s race.
Sign: Discussion of building a information sign outside the township hall.
Motion by Clerk Rock and seconded by Treasurer Early to construct a sign board not to exceed $300. Motion carried.
Supervisor Heath-
Well: Wood cap was installed over the well.
Lady called about empty lot on Wabash that needs mowing. No ordinance to cover weeks.
Solid Waste Management update letter.
Letter from 7th Day Adventist, township not to sign the letter, but to call and inform we received the letter.
Bicycle Race – Board should be notified of any events in the township.
Mineral Brine –
Motion by Trustee Dopkowski and seconded by Trustee Mancik to pay MCRC $23,000.62 for salt brine of the roads.
Motion carried.
Free stone – Communications ongoing.
425 section of Crowe Rd. – City of Milan to take care of that section of Crowe Rd.
Trustee Mancik-
MORE meeting is May 28 @ 7 p.m.
Trustee Dopkowski-
Lenny Edmond was told not to put office trailer on property. Clerk Rock will contact him.
