The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Roll call: Supervisor Phil Heath (present), Clerk Margaret Rock (excused), Treasurer Jim Early (present), Trustee Olga Mancik (present), and Trustee Robert Dopkowski (present).
Public Comment: None
Agenda additions or changes:
Consent Agenda, Minutes, Disbursements, Fund Balances and Building Report:
Motion by Trustee Dopkowski and seconded by Supervisor Heath to accept the Consent Agenda. Motion carried.
Motion by Treasurer Early and seconded by Trustee Mancik to accept the minutes with corrections. Motion carried.
Treasurer Early read the disbursements:
General Fund = 6,722.77
Fire Fund = 161.00
Bldg. Fund = 286.35
Road Fund = 7,764.39
Other = 78.78
Total = $15,013.29
Motion by Treasurer Early and seconded by Trustee Mancik to pay the bills of $15,013.29. Motion carried.
Fund Balances:
Chase (savings) = $375,535.61
MB & T (checking) = 43,086.23
Flagstar = 202,467.52
MB & T (savings) = 15,524.22
Total = $636,613.58
Motion by Trustee Mancik and seconded by Trustee Dopkowski to accept the fund balance report. Motion carried.
Trustee Mancik gave the Building Report:
7 permits issued
Total money received = $615
Total paid out = $266
Motion by Supervisor Heath and seconded by Trustee Dopkowski to accept the Building Report. Motion carried.
Old Business
Trash Pickup: Jim is to get back with Clerk Rock as he isn’t sure they wish to get into an agreement with only 100 customers.
New Business
Lou Burke Retirement: Letter received from Lou Burke with plan to retire on Aug. 1st, 2009 or could delay until September 1st if board wished. Letter from the Milan Board was read asking Lou Burke to stay until September 1st, 2009. This gives the board a chance to publish a notice asking for applicants. Mr. Burke agreed to stay on until September 1st, 2009.
Issues from the Board Members
Supervisor Heath – Drain Assessment maintenance of $5,000. Thayer Drain meeting is Tuesday, July 21st at 9 a.m. in London Township Hall.
Deputy Clerk Lee – Read letter from Monroe Solid Waste Program that it is suspending the spring and fall yard waste collection program effective immediately.
Trustee Dopkowski – Are we getting any roads scraped this year?
Trustee Mancik – MORE: No July or August meeting. The signs for the property on Sherman Rd. have no posts. Discussion of purchasing posts and the township to reimburse.
Holcim Advisory meeting: Many questions and not a lot of answers. They will demo the buildings. The employees will be kept until October.
Treasurer Early – Board of Review meeting date is July 24th 2009 at 9 a.m. at the township hall. This is an errors and omissions meeting. Our auditors coming to Milan Township on Tuesday, July 14th at 7 p.m. to discuss the audit.
Public Comment –
Resident: Asked about the Auditor meeting and will it be published as a meeting. Treasurer Early: The auditors requested 3 members be present.
Resident stated: Ordinance inspection of Holcim was set for 3 times a year, have inspections been done? Lanny Edmonds property, the notice back in November was for temporary use of the property. He should be required to comply with ordinance first. Supervisor Heath: Lanny has ceased and working with MCRC.
Trustee Mancik: The sign in front of township hall looks good.
