Proposed minutes of the Milan Township Board meeting held on January 8, 2009.
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Philip Heath at 7:01 P.M. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Roll call: Supervisor Phil Heath (present), Clerk Margaret Rock (present), Treasurer Jim Early (present), Trustee Olga Mancik (present), and Trustee Robert Dopkowski (late).

Consent Agenda, Minutes, Disbursements, Fund Balances and Building Report:
Motion by Clerk Rock and seconded by Trustee Mancik to accept the Consent Agenda.
Motion carried.
Motion by Trustee Mancik and seconded by Treasurer Early to accept the minutes.
Motion carried.
Clerk Rock read the disbursements:
General Fund = $ 8076.05
Fire Fund = $ 364.00
Bldg. Fund = $ 536.11
Road Fund = $ 0
Other = $ 163.22
Total = $ 8976.16
Motion by Clerk Rock and seconded by Trustee Mancik to pay the bills of $8976.16.
Roll call vote: Heath – Yes, Rock – Yes, Early – Yes, Mancik – Yes, Doplowski – Yes. Motion carried.
Treasurer Early gave fund balances:
Chase (savings) = $205,105.63
Flagstar = $198,251.15
MB&T(chkg) = $ 12,850.03
MB&T (savings) = $ 16,446.33
Total = $456,762.22
Fixed Assets = $ 6,500.00
Total Assets = $463,262.22
Motion by Trustee Mancik and seconded by Clerk Rock to accept the Treasurer’s report for fund balances.
Motion carried.
Trustee Mancik gave the Building Report:
4 permits were issued
Total money rec’d = $ 330.00
Total paid out = $ 498.00
Motion by Trustee Dopkowski and seconded by Treasurer Early to accept the Building Report.
Motion carried.
Supervisor Heath stated all reports to be filed for audit.
Old Business:
Garbage Bids
Representatives from Stevens Disposal were present and gave presentation. The township will need to write an ordinance for a franchise on residential curbside pick up. Allow a grace period for non-Stevens customers. The contract will be for 5 years. Fuel is a variable cost and Stevens will present a spreadsheet for fuel costs.
Bids for farming township property
If township wishes to continue to rent the property, then the income must go into the park fund. Bob Dopkowski can put together a grant within 60 days. Board should not rush into renting the property.
Motion by Treasurer Early and seconded by Supervisor Heath to table farming of township property until next month.

New Business:
MCRC road contract
Received a letter of understanding from MCRC.
Motion by Clerk Rock and seconded by Trustee Dopkowski to table until next month, the letter of understanding from MCRC.
Motion carried.
West Shore Services, Inc. Agreement
West Shore Services sent a bill for $670 for maintenance of the siren towers. They sent a letter previously and it is renewal annually unless cancelled.
Motion by Clerk Rock and seconded by Trustee Mancik to table the West Shore Services invoice until next month.
Motion carried.
Budget and Annual meeting dates
Meeting will be held on January 24th, 2009 at 9 a.m.
Issues from Board Members or Officials
Clerk Rock: Storage shelf proposal
Motion by Treasurer Early and seconded by Trustee Dopkowski to have L. Lee build 5 shelf units at cost of no more than $90 each.
Motion carried.
Clerk Rock: Web site
Need software to update the web site. Web site is down until the fee for domain name has been paid. Get further information and bring back to next months meeting.
Trustee Mancik: January 22 a MORE meeting will be held at City of Milan at 7 p.m.
