Approved minutes of the Milan Township Board held on August 09, 2007
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Wittkop at 7:00 PM. Invocation was given and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Supervisor Wittkop asked if there were any additions to the agenda. No one on board had any to add.
Public Comment:
A citizen stated he just had a comment regarding the proposed new zoning map in regards to the C2 district.
Supervisor Wittkop thanked him for his comment and informed him that there is a Public Meeting on August 16, 2007 at 7:00 pm and he should come to that and state his concern.
Consent Agenda, Minutes, Disbursements, Fund Balances and Building Report:
Motion by Trustee Dopkowski and seconded by Trustee Mancik to accept the Consent Agenda.
All yeas Motion carried.
Supervisor Wittkop asked if there were any changes/corrections to the July 12, 2007 minutes. None were voiced.
Motion by Clerk Rock to accept the minutes of July 12, 2007 and seconded by Trustee Dopkowski.
All yeas. Motion carried.
Clerk Rock read the disbursements: General Fund = $ 8615.50
Fire Fund =
Bldg Fund = 806.30
Road Fund = 65.01
Total = $ 9486.81
Clerk Rock made motion to pay bills Seconded by Trustee Mancik.
All yeas. Motion carried.
Treasurer Early gave fund balance report: Flagstar Bank: $186,930.38

Treasurer Early also handed out a report listing all the deposit made in the month of July. Trustee Dopkowski asked about the recovery % the township receives back from the fire runs billed. Treasurer Early responded less then 50%.
Trustee Mancik gave the Building Report:
6 permits were issued
Total money received: $475.00
Total paid out: $740.18
Questions were asked and answered by Clerk Rock.
Supervisor Wittkop stated all reports to the filed for audit.
Old Business:
QVF/Pontem:
Trustee Mancik talked about information she obtained from Monroe and Lansing regarding QVF access and PCAnywhere software. Questions were asked and answered.
Clerk Rock made motion to purchase Pontem Voting Software. Treasurer Early seconded.
4 yeas. 1 nay. Motion passed.
Flagpoles
Treasurer Early provided pamphlets regarding different types of Flagpoles. The board discussed and asked Treasurer Early to obtain costs for different types.
New Business:
None for this month.
Issues from Board Members or Officials
Trustee Dopkowski spoke about his concern regarding MB&T property tax court case. Trustee Dopkowski stated he would like the township to voice its concerns. The board discussed and it was decided that Supervisor Wittkop would speak with the townships lawyer and ask his opinion. Supervisor Wittkop will find out information and it will be brought up at next months meeting.
Supervisor Wittkop discussed letters he received from our lawyer regarding the property on Couper Road,
A letter he received from Kathy Angerer regarding the closing of the Secretary of States office in Milan.
A copy of a letter send to Mr. Ostrander from Janeen Abar regarding speed limit in Azaila.
Trustee Mancik stated she located some more information about QVF.
Supervisor Wittkop mentioned that he received information regarding the MTA Annual Conference Jan 8-11, 2008.
Public Comment
A citizen stated that he rides in the township a lot and notices a lot of dead trees and he was wanted to know who takes care of them.
Supervisor Wittkop stated that if a tree falls on private property it is the property owner’s responsibility to remove, if a tree is a danger to Edison lines then he is free to call him and he will place a call to Edison.
A citizen asked if it was true that a person 62 or older could have his tax deferred and if so where can the forms be obtained.
Treasurer Early stated it is true and the forms could be obtained from him but there are restrictions that have to be met.
