Approved minutes of the Milan Township Board held on June 14, 2007.
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Wittkop at 7:02 PM. Invocation was given and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Public Comment: None.
Consent Agenda, Minutes, Disbursements, Fund Balances and Building Report:
Motion by Treasurer Early and seconded by Trustee Dopkowski to accept the Consent Agenda. Motion carried with all yeas.
Motion by Treasurer Early and seconded by Trustee Mancik to accept minutes of May 10, 2007, as read and filed for audit. Motion carried with all yeas.
Motion by Trustee Mancik and seconded by Trustee Dopkowski to pay bills totaling $37,913.36. Motion carried.
Treasurer Early gave fund balance report: Flagstar Bank: $186,745.09
MB & T: 58,930.29
MB & T: 3,482.92
Chase: 227,667.69
MB & T: 18,710.12
Total: $495,536.11
Supervisor Wittkop asked for a list of revenues received. Treasurer Early will prepare.
Treasurer Early will renew a CD at Flagstar Bank for 189 days at 5.39% interest.
Trustee Mancik gave the Building Report.
Supervisor Wittkop stated all reports to the filed for audit.
Old Business:
Trees in Cemeteries: Discussion of currently having one bid. Supervisor Wittkop will obtain 3 bids. Action on cemetery trees tabled. Motion carried.
Building Department Fee Schedule: Building Department Fee Schedule tabled until we have a table showing expenses. Motion carried.
New Business:
Flags and Flag Poles: Treasurer Early suggested leaving flags up all summer, from Memorial Day until after Veterans Day in November. Motion by Treasurer Early and seconded by Trustee Mancik to order 4 new flags. Motion carried.
The flag pole in Spaulding Cemetery in the NW corner is not visible. Treasurer Early will obtain quotes to move the flag pole.
Trees hinder the visibility of the Azalia Cemetery flag pole. There was further discussion on removing trees in the Azalia Cemetery.
Maps of Area: There was discussion regarding a fax from Hometown Productions willing to provide 300 maps of the township in exchange for using the Township Hall and Name in promoting their business. Trustee Mancik made motion to do nothing regarding this request. Trustee Dopkowski seconded the motion. Motion carried.
PDF Software: Following discussion regarding this software it was decided to obtain one application to see if it works for the Township treasurer needs. Trustee Mancik made this motion and it was seconded by Trustee Dopkowski. Motion carried.
Issues from Board Members or Officials: Supervisor Wittkop indicated Treasurer Early could not attend the June 21st Fire Board Meeting. Trustee Mancik will attend this meeting.
There was discussion on the Fire Agreement. Trustee Dopkowski questioned the insurance figures in the agreement and the fact that no other figures are given in the agreement. Attachments are proposed and Trustee Dopkowski feels these could be changed as needed. The Default payment - suggestion at least 60 days after certified receipt. Page 8, 7.7 "may be reviewed" suggestion.
Trustee Dopkowski brought up that there will be a combined meeting of the Planning Commission and the Township Board to discuss the new ordinance on June 28 at 7:00 PM.
Public Comment: Citizen upset that York Township allowed the Toyota property to have Saline fire protection taking away financial potential from the Milan Area Fire Association.
Adjournment: Trustee Dopkowski made a motion to adjourn. This was seconded by Treasurer Early. Meeting adjourned at 8:51 PM.
