Approved minutes of the Milan Township Board held on July 10, 2008

The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Wittkop at 7:05 PM. Invocation was given and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Public Comment:

None

Agenda additions or changes

Supervisor Wittkop made motion that under New Business Safety Deposit Box Signatures be added. Clerk Rock seconded.

Vote taken. All yeas. Motion carried

Consent Agenda, Minutes, Disbursements, Fund Balances and Building Report:

Supervisor Wittkop made motion to accept consent agenda. Trustee Dopkowski seconded.

Vote taken. All yeas. Motion carried.

Supervisor Wittkop stated the Consent Agenda be accepted as corrected and filed for audit.

Supervisor Wittkop asked if and changes/corrections to the June 12, 2008 minutes.

No changes or corrections. Treasurer Early made motion to accept the minutes. Trustee Dopkowski seconded.

Vote taken. All yeas. Motion carried.

 

Clerk Rock read the disbursements: General Fund = $10,484.86

Fire Fund =

Bldg Fund = 286.08

Road Fund = $53,041.51

Total = $63,812.45

Clerk Rock made motion to pay bills. Trustee Dopkowski seconded.

Vote Taken. All yeas. Motion carried.

Treasurer Early gave fund balances. General Fund. = $ 198,715.34

Fire Fund = $ 27,368.38

Building dept Fund = $ -1,418.34

Road Fund = $ 76,546.96 Flagstar, = $ 196,286.17

MB&T = $ 3,620.21

 

The board discussed a 3 CD’s that need to be renewed. After discussion Supervisor Wittkop made motion to renew CD’s at whatever Treasurer Early could get for 6 months.

Trustee Mancik gave the Building Report:

5 permit were issued

Total money received: $ 260.00

Total paid out: $ 529.92

Supervisor Wittkop stated all reports to the filed for audit.

Old Business:

Purchased property –land survey topo

Mr. Craigmile from the engineering firm of OHM explained a land survey would allow the township to know the boundries and description of the property. And he stated the cost would be $6500.00, and a topo would cost $3000.00 The board discussed and questions were asked and answered. After discussion Treasurer Early made motion to do the survey and hold off on the topo. Supervisor Wittkop supported.

Roll call vote taken. All yeas. Motion passed.

New Business:

New cover for well.

Supervisor Wittkop stated he spoke with Saliebem and got some cost for covers for the well. A galvanized would be $285.00 and stainless steel would be higher. Trustee Mancik asked about using plastic wood or having one made out of womanized wood. The board discussed and after discussion Treasurer Early moved to place this on hold till next month. Clerk Rock seconded.

Vote taken. All yeas. Motion carried.

 

Well assessment

Supervisor Wittkop stated that the cost of a well assessment would be $100.00. After discussion of the board

Trustee Dopkowski made motion to have assessment done. Trustee Mancik seconded.

Vote taken. All yeas. Motion carried.

Handout info on Parks

Supervisor Wittkop handed out information on parks for the board to look at.

Safety Deposit Box signatures.

Supervisor Wittkop stated that the signature on the safety deposit box had not been changed to reflect the new treasure. Supervisor Wittkop made motion to delete Daryl Lukasik and add Treasurer Early to the signature for the safety deposit box. Trustee Mancik seconded.

Vote taken. All yeas. Motion passed.

Issues from Board Members or Officials

Supervisor Wittkop stated that Sanford Road was paved. He spoke with Tom Roberts from the MCRC and asked him how much it cost to have that done and he was told approximately $100,000.00.

Supervisor Wittkop also stated that he spoke with C & T Trucking and was told they could haul the 300 tons but not spread it. Supervisor Wittkop will check with other companies and bring costs to next meeting.

Treasurer Early asked about farming of property the township acquired. Supervisor Wittkop responded that the board will take bids for farming of the property.

Clerk Rock stated we send out 70 absent ballots.

 

Public Comment

A citizen asked how the differences in the bank balances were coming along.

Clerk Rock responded that she and the treasure had met with the auditor and it was being worked on.

Treasurer Early made motion to adjourn. Trustee Mancik seconded.
